Coming in 2027 - just in time for licensure renewal
We examine an array of sex anomaly disorders and mental illness disorders with which a physical therapy patient may present as a comorbidity. We explore the impact these comorbidites can have on a patient's ability to participate in and benefit from physical therapy. We discuss medical interventions provided to these patients by other medical professionals and the implications of these interventions on physical therapy. Case scenarios of patients with one or more of these comorbidities are integrated throughout the course.

Teaching and learning methods include lecture, discussion, and small group and whole group case scenarios.
Accreditation of this course does not necessarily imply the FPTA supports the views of the presenter or the sponsors.

Physical therapy patients present with a wide variety of comorbidities, including Sex Anomalies and Mental Disorders. To provide holistic physical therapy, physical therapists must consider the impact of these and all comorbidities. Examples of sex anomaly disorders this course examines are Klinefelter's syndrome, androgen insensitivity syndrome, congenital malformations of genital organs. Examples of mental disorder comorbidites are abuse of non-dependence producing substances; neurotic, stress-related and somatoform disorders (such as body dysmorphia); mood disorders; disorders of adult personality and behavior including gender identity disorder of childhood, transsexualism and Munchausen syndrome by proxy).
