The author, Sharon Elayne Fair, is co-founder and President of the Wellness Society, which was established in 1981. She has been licensed as a physical therapist since 1993. Additionally, she has earned a Master of Science in exercise science, a Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) and a PhD in education. Dr. Fair authored Wellness and Physical Therapy (2010) and prior editions of Wellness and Holistic Physical Therapy, which have been utilized in Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs throughout the USA. During her 8-year tenure as a professor at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, she taught DPT courses related to wellness, obesity, mental health, and nutrition as well as served as chair of the Wellness Task Force. Dr. Fair is a proud Floridian and she and her family divide their home lives between St. Augustine and Palatka.
The author of section of Chapter 8 (Special Topics), is Dr. LaTasha Blanton. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2004 and has owned and operated multiple private outpatient facilities through the 2010s, at which time she sold her practices and started a travel and tourism company, The Real South Africa, that allows her to live full time in South Africa. To keep up on her skills as a physical therapist, she owns and operates Jade Virtual Physical Therapy. Both in travel and virtual physical therapy, Dr. Blanton ensures her energy is at its highest positive vibration before engaging with a patient/client. She truly believes we receive the energy we give. Dr. Blanton has been married to Mark E. Blanton since 2007 and he is her business partner in all endeavors.
The author of Section of Chapter 8 (Special Topics), Jackie Booth has been working as a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist since 2014. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stetson University in 2007 and her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Florida in 2014. Following graduation, Jackie underwent specialty training (including Pelvic Floor Level 1, 2A, 2B; Oncology and the Female Pelvic Floor; Oncology and the Male Pelvic Floor, Sacroiliac Joint Evaluation and Treatment, Mobilization of Visceral Fascia: The Urinary System; Coccyx Pain: Evaluation and Treatment; The Balloon Catheter – Application and Clinical Reasoning) and continues to attend courses through Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. Dr. Booth and her husband reside in Gainesville, Florida.
